Integrated Program in Nanotechnology

Program Overview

Nanotechnology is a newborn discipline that responds to the demand of a multi-disciplinary scientific know-how which translates into superior products and technologies with the manipulation at 10-9 m scale.

Integrated Program in Nanotechnology explains the integration of physics, biology and chemistry at the nanometer scale and tops this with applications of technology and engineering to ensure know-how of practical implementations of Nanotechnology at various levels. This program explains the basic aspects of Nanotechnology such as Nanomaterials, Nanostructures, Nanofabrication techniques, Nanocharacterization and Manipulation techniques.

Program Aim

The innovative Integrated Program in Nanotechnology aims to give thorough grounding skills to the participants necessary for a technically-based career in the new high-tech industries.

The program covers the technologies used to design, realize and analyze micro and nano-scale devices, materials and systems, coupled with general and technology management. This is supported by project work and ensures graduates to emerge training in a wide range of technical and management skills and have a sharp appreciation of the relevance of the subject to industrial needs.

Learning Outcomes of the Program

  • Self-study of course material
  • Explain the unique properties of nano/micro and thin films and how they play a key role in a wide range of technology applications
  • Explain basic scientific principles related to the behavior of matter at the atomic level in chemical, biological and mechanical systems
  • Follow the procedures of the fabrication process as it applies to biological, chemical and electronics manufacturing technologies
  • Follow testing and characterization procedures for materials, thin films, components and packaged devices
  • Perform technician-level functions in a micro-nano and thin-film fabrication environment
  • Follow proper experimental design, tracking and documentation procedures.
  • Work effectively as a member of a technical team

  • Program Outcome

Successful students will secure positions in the newly developing Nanosystems and Nanotechnology-based industries as well as more traditional industries, such as microelectronics and precision engineering, requiring skills related to those taught. Graduates are able to pursue careers in a diverse range of industries including agriculture, automotive, aerospace, chemical, construction, cosmetics, electronics, environment, energy, textiles, marine, optics, and medicine & pharmaceutical industries
