Abstract

This review of oil-in-water nanoemulsions is presented followed by a new application as a surfactant water fuel (different commercial gasoline). The miscibility of water in these fuels is very high, allowing to produce stable nearly monodispersed nanoemulsions, without a cosurfactant. The nanoemulsions were tested as fuels in a two-cycle engine where it worked as an excellent octane enhancer.
