What
we do...
The NSTC Outreach Program staff travel to conferences and Research Labs,
Industrial houses to give presentations, conduct issue workshops, and train
activists. We strive to include students and faculty from various academic and
activist sectors: Policy makers, pressure groups and other interested groups.
NSTC
Outreach Department does this by:
-
Mentoring and advising on career
choices and research opportunities;
-
Providing on-NSTC (Nano Science
and Technology Consortium ) experiences, such as Summer internship and project
work , for students and educators;
-
Coordinating student internships
with the with Industries;
-
Making presentations at schools
on Nanotechnology issues;
-
Providing teachers with the
support they need in order to be able to increase the amount and quality of
Nanotechnology instruction;
-
Providing counselors with
information that will assist them in advising and scheduling students to
improve their success in Nanotechnology studies;
-
Assisting institutions and other
bodies in developing and providing extracurricular opportunities in
Nanotechnology;
-
Coordinating with other groups
such as universities, R& D labs, colleges, and local agencies to improve
Nanotechnology awareness; and
-
Providing Nanotechnology
Professionals with training and materials to conduct Nanotechnology education
and public outreach.
The
development of partnerships with educational staff, community members, and
Nanotechnology professionals to address ethical issues will build bridges
between the Issues and Nanotechnology opportunities.
