NanoTrends give autonomy to the authors or contributors to structure references for other types of documents (not covered above) on the analogy of above referred text and examples. In exceptional cases where distinction in referencing demands insertion of another punctuation mark, a comma �,� may be used.
Tables
It has to have a title. Footnotes to tables should be quite brief. NanoTrends prefers tables in MS Word or Excel. In text citation of Tables, adhering to citation sequence system is essential. These need to be submitted separately from the main contents of the text. The legends used in tables should be precise and explanatory enough to be understood separate of the text. In case of abbreviations in the table footnotes should be employed to explain/ elaborate them. These needs to be specified by lower case letters.
Illustrations and figures

NanoTrends suggests two-dimensional line, bar, pie- charts and pie charts in grey backgrounds with adequate margins. The journal prefers presentation of data in a table, in cases where there are fewer than �two or more categories� and �five observations�.

The resolutions from 300 to 600 dpi and appropriate sizes of electronic image files should be achieved to ensure clarity and high quality in publication. Figures needs to be submitted in colored and black and white/ grey scale as appropriate.

Figure legends should be restricted to 50 words and describe its contents coextensively.

Better quality black and white and colored photographs (as appropriate) meeting the sufficient quality criteria on contrast and fineness of grains etc. needs to be submitted. Images in format, JPEG or tiff (for print version) format are preferred.

Figures included in the manuscript should be clear and properly marked. These should be numbered in the order in which they are referred to in the text. If there is more than one part to a figure (e.g. figure 1a, figure 1b etc), the parts should be identified by a lower-case letter in parentheses e.g. figure 1(a), figure 1(b) etc. Captions should be included in a separate text and not in the graphic files. Authors are suggested to specify, if they want color figures printed in color only.

 
To attain the best results in print and online, please consider the following points when preparing your figure files:
  • Shading and fill patterns have to be avoided wherever possible because diagrams containing them have to be printed as half-tones and undesirable interference patterns may be produced on printing.
  • Subscribers/ users of your online article will mostly download/ print it on a black and white printer that may make colored lines difficult to distinguish. To avoid this problem, authors are suggested to consider identifying curves by schemes other than color, e.g. by letters- upper case, roman letters, or by the type of line e.g. --, full curve; - - -, broken curve; - � - � -, chain curve.

  • While producing figures employing colors, light colors namely yellow, light green, light blue, light grey, etc have to be avoided. These colors normally reproduce weakly in black and white printing/ copying processes.
  • Wherever an option is available, electronic figures need to be tightly cropped to minimize superfluous white space around them. This minimizes file sizes and assists in the alignment of figures on the printed page.
Specific Guidelines on file formats
  • The manuscript should be prepared in an electronic form that makes the job of editing / publishing fast. The authors need to send their manuscripts in PDF and/ or Microsoft Word format. NanoTrends requires separate text and figure files of a manuscript.
  • Fonts used should be restricted to the standard font families (Arial, Helvetica, Times Roman or Symbol). Font size in general should match to �12� of �Times New Roman�.
  • NanoTrends accepts formats for video or animation clips in MPEG, QuickTime, AVI or Animated GIF.

  • It prefers the Cinepak codec for compression. This provides good compression and, importantly, it is widely supported.

  • Supplementary data
    • Data files or extra figures can be submitted in any of the usual formats (PDF, Word, GIF, TIFF, etc).
  • Authors are suggested to archive and compress their files for electronic submission.

  • They should combine all your files (article text, graphics files) into a single compressed archive file for ease of handling and to save your time and space.
  • NanoTrends supports all common compression formats including WinZip.

  • To maintain uniformity and consistency in naming the files, NanoTrends formulates that a file may be derived (file name.ext) by choosing first four characters of an author�s last name suffixed by four characters for the current month and day in �MMDD format. e.g. SMIT010 for Last name Smith and 1st January.
Mathematics
Information on the presentation of statistical data/ mathematics, formulae and equations may be employed in cases the subject of an article demands it.
Revised versions
NanoTrends sets a time line of 15-20 days for authors to revise a submitted manuscript, on the grounds of comments offered by the reviewer (s) editor (s). It is important to give a brief account of revision carried- out in a cover note/ email that attaches the revised manuscript. In case of big number of changes, a list of changes has to be provided.

Authors, after completing a simple and self explanatory registration process, may submit their manuscripts online by entering through the �Authors Corner�.
